BALLASTS FOR UV LAMP
UVC lamps are only a part of a system which must be completed and optimized with the ballasts chosen according to their technical characteristics. This determines the performance of the whole system.
The ballasts presented here are suitable to supply UVC tubes.
Each type of ballast allows the supply of one or two tubes and corresponds to a certain power range.
HIGH FREQUENCY ELECTRONIC BALLASTS: FULHAM, PHILIPS, ZIEGLER
High Frequency (HF) electronic ballasts supplies a reduced maintenance, an energy-efficient solution for germicidal UV applications . The electronic ballast is necessary to control the preheating of the lamps in order to optimize the longevity of the system.
Electronic ballasts offer the advantages of an economical and efficient solution.
The main advantage concerns their insensitivity to micro-cuts and to fluctuations in the power supply voltage. Indeed, this is an important factor of the stability of the flow of the tubes in the UV spectrum. They also reduce the loss of flow from the tubes lifetimes.
The ignition of tubes is immediate, 0.3 seconds. This data should not be confused with the stabilization time of the UVC flux in the tube, which is a function of its temperature at the time of ignition. If the tube is cold it will take 20 seconds. If the tube was in operation this time may be reduced to about 5 sec or less.
The very high power factor (cos f = 0.98) and very weak ballast losses confer it significant energy savings .
Other advantages :
- very low radiant heat
- intern protection in case of short-circuit of the ballast
- automatic safe mode at the end of tubes lifetime
- small size and easy wiring
- dimming and non-dimming options possible
- internal protection in case of ballast short circuit
- automatic safety shutdown at the end of the tube’s life
- compatible with a wide range of lamps and configurations
- extended ballast life – reduced maintenance costs
- in “duo” assembly, if one of the tubes is out of service, both are off
ELECTRONIC BALLASTS REMOTE LIGHT CE AND UL SERIES T5 (Ø 16MM)
FOR 4-PIN UV lampS WITH CONTROL OF THE OPERATION OF EACH tube BY REMOTE INDICATOR
UVC T5 tubes have benefited from the generalization of these ballasts in the field of lighting, replacing the traditional “starter + ferromagnetic type ballast”.
